About me

I am currently a Research Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London. Formerly, I worked as a Manager - Defence, Aviation and Cyber Security for London's business intelligence firm, Visiongain. My professional experience includes also working as a research fellow at the UK Houses of Parliament, and as an analyst for the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) at their Middle Eastern branch in Doha, Qatar.

I hold a Masters degree with distinction in International Peace and Security from Dept of War Studies and the School of Law at King's College London, and a first-class honours degree in International Studies at Goldsmiths & SOAS, University of London. My Masters thesis discussed the implications of nuclearised Iran for the Gulf region, whereas my degree dissertation analysed the emergence of Qatar as a modern hybrid regime focusing on the process of political liberalisation under the reign of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Whilst at Goldsmiths I was granted the highest grade conferred upon a student of Politics Dept for my third year research on Derridean approaches to Islam and the War on Terror. I was also elected to preside over Goldsmiths Students Union Politics Society. I was also previously awarded a 6-months long scholarship by the Government of the Basque Country to read Basque culture and the human experiences of ETA terrorism at the University of Bilbao, Spain.

My areas of interests include: defence and aerospace, international security, cyber security, Iranian foreign policy, Iran's nuclear programme, nuclear security, CBRN, water and resource security, Qatar, Gulf Studies, Middle Eastern security, terrorism and radicalisation, political Islam. I have travelled extensively across Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.
